Life's just been twisting and turning and sometimes I don't know which way is up.
But...I now signed up for the Gallup Sprint Triathlon afterall. YAY!! Looks like a challenging little course at an altitude of 6500 ft above sea level and with some hills on both the bike and run. It's a pool swim, though.
I have only two goals for the race:
1 - Redeem myself in the water - mostly to gain confidence moving foward. I had a terrible time trying to get by all the bodies in the water at Jay Benson. That was immediately followed by freaking out in the lake at Buffman Squeaky, spending more time flailing than swimming. I want *this* swim to be something I'm happy with.
2 - Have fun. I don't want to get all caught up by how much I suck on the bike or how much hills or high altitude suck. It took a lot of planning and negotiating to get me there. I just want to enjoy the experience.
In other news...
I have a Dr appt because I haven't been feeling well lately and I'm convinced something is wrong (thyroid or something like that). More later when I have more info and feel like sharing.
My husband is in China on business. I'm effectively a single parent for the next week. Yikes!!
Take care of yourself. You know your body. Hang in there with the kids!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself 1st..
ReplyDeleteBut I'm glad you were able to sign up for the race.. You will do fine, just have fun, the more you swim in a race the better you will get. You can do it I know it.. "One step at a time"
YAY!!! I'm so glad that you were able to get a tri in afterall :)
ReplyDeleteI hope everything is ok! Take care of yourself!!
Whoooooaaa on being a single parent for a bit, I'd probably have a heart attack LOL
We have the same goals for our next tri! Bring on that stinkin lake (pool) :-)
ReplyDeleteThe pic reminded me of taking my nephew to the amusement park last summer - fun! Have a great time at the race. sometimes the spontaneous ones are the best ones!
ReplyDeleteThat's the spirit! Have fun and don't worry about the timings.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well at doctors. Will be praying for you.
Was catching up on your posts and I must say I love the "Parenting is a Endurance Sport" post. I went straight to the comments to fish for advice but it seems most of us have kids that are still pre-teen. The boys in Singapore have to go through the Army at age 18, and I am counting on that as the last resort if all else fails. :) Seriously though, PRAY PRAY PRAY...
Where in China? Did you give him a shopping list? There's lots to buy in China!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with that race, sounds like you've picked some good goals for yourself.
ReplyDeleteSorry you haven't been feeling well, I hope you get some answers on what's wrong.
Good luck single parenting, too- I hope the kids go easy on you.
Hope you are feeling better soon, Lisa. I think it's smart that you were proactive and scheduled an appointment, I would probably just let that slide.
ReplyDeleteGo out there and kill the swim :)
Hope the Dr. appt goes OK....If it's thyroid, it can be corrected. (Been there, done that!)
ReplyDeleteDepending on your relationship with your hubby, sometimes being a single parent is easier! (I am speaking of my ex of course!)
Good to hear that you are doing another race soon!
I hope your appointment goes well!! I am glad you can do the race, I like your goals!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad things worked out to do the race. Hopefully it will be a confidence booster. Its always better to get back in the saddle as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteSounds like that race is just what you need to get back to loving the sport again. Have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon.
I'm late with this so I already know that your bloodwork was fine. Take care of yourself, Lisa. I think your move to triathlete/athlete & blogger this year can only be good. You've got your body and mind covered. Phew!
