I've decided to model and give a report on each of my skirts as I test them out. Today I wore my Champion running skirt from the sale rack at target. I've worn this one to the gym a few times and it works well for that. There is a zippered pocket in back, perfect for keys. There are built-in shorts underneath, from the same material as the skirt. I wore it today hoping to give a field test report from running in it, but that will have to wait for another day.
For you dog people, the hands-free leash is around my waist under the long sleeve shirt. I even got Bandit to tolerate the yellow bandana. We were color coordinated and ready to do this thing.
I arrived early to the race venue to find at least a hundred dogs already there. Some better behaved than others; but most (including mine) in a what can only be described as a heightened state of sensory overload. I was struggling to get Bandit to ignore the other dogs and focus on me. I hadn't even made it from the parking lot to the starting area when I realized that this wasn't going to be a fun way for me to spend my morning afterall. And since FUN is my over-riding goal at the moment, I simply turned around, got back in the car, and headed home. With that decision comes my second DNS for the year.
Oh well. Like yous aid, fun is your primary concerna dn if could determine that it wouldn't happen, I think it makes sense to bail.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I can't type. Hope you can decipher that previous message.
ReplyDeleteCan I just comment on your legs? OMG they're GREAT! Totally toned! And that gets an "I Hate You" vote from me :P LOL JK!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jess, if fun was the primary concern and you didn't think it would happen, it's all good :-) Better to do that than torture yourself and the dog and then gripe internally all day how you knew it would be horrible ;-)
I second the nice legs comment, nice skirt, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made what was a good decision for you. I can only imagine the mayhem.
See - the skirt is working already. I seriously don't think anyone has ever complimented me on my legs before.
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa - now I've done some running skirt research I can confirm that I have one! I actually wear these sort of things when I play hockey - never thought of running outside in it, and anyhow it has no pockets unlike the funky ones you seem to have found!
ReplyDeleteThink you did the right thing with Bandit today - Sounds like doggy madness!!
... and as for the picture and legs comments, well I would say I second that - but Marcy already did, and as jbmommy did too I guess that means I fourth that motion!
Cute skirt! Looks better on your than I would beton me! As for the dog? Just like kids: behave or we're leaving NOW! Been there, done that. Probably a good decision.
ReplyDeleteI think we can no longer be friends as you look so great in that skirt!! (oops, did my
ReplyDeleteissues slip out then? LOL)
I wish our Target had cool skirts like that :)
The dog thing sounded good, but I agree, sensory overloaded dogs en masse = no fun. Well played!
I have that skirt. I really like it for shorter runs (3-4 miles) but not for anything long. I think after several miles the shorts start to ride or something. You look great! Sorry about the doggy race.
ReplyDeleteI like the skirt. I also have one and like it for shorter runs.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand the dog thing. But you guys look great together.
Hate that DNS with the doggy run..but fun can't take a back seat to the headache's of dealing with those other dogs..sounds like a good choice on your part.....
ReplyDeleteSkirt...legs...glamour...now I ask...WHY am I the only guy here posting....don't get in front of me at a race...I won't want to pass....
You were a brave soul to run with your dog anyways. Mine would have jumped out the car window on the way there...
ReplyDeleteAhhh, yellow, my favorite racing color.
Well, you guys look very cute...that's the important thing!
ReplyDeleteThat's a super cute running outfit! I can see how sensory overload could be a problem! and probably the wisest choice.
ReplyDeleteBummer about all the doggie distractions! But it was good sticking to your guns and bailing if it wasn't going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the skirt! You and Bandit look great!
ReplyDeleteI feel kinda bad now for suggesting this "fun" race to you. I've never done it, but heard good things about it. I know my dogs would be awful there though.
I admire your ability to bail out when you realized it would not be fun! In my opionion, DNS does not count...you weren't going for a serious race, but more for enjoyment, heh?
You've got the trifecta going on there. Nice legs, cute skirt, cute dog. It just doesn't get much better.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the DNS. Sometimes, when I'm in a "heightened state of sensory overload," I go home and drink...
ReplyDeleteNot fun to have a DNS, but you made a good call. I'm soooo tempted to take Kona to the Thanksgiving 5K with me sometime but I'm pretty sure he'd react the same way to all the other people's dogs.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE your running skirts!
haha
ReplyDeletethat's pretty funny. I love it!
Ever tried the atalanta running skirts?
haha
