Thanks for your comments on the bike jerseys. I'll tell you this much - it helped me narrow down to A & B. The final decision...well you'll just have to wait to find out. :)
Biked to work today in 26:15 which was a PB by one whole minute. I know this because I'm a dork and keep a running B2W tally on my white board at work.
Due to popular request by my family, friends, and coworkers - I also requested a locker at the gym onsite which they grant to folks who bike to work 2 days or more per week. It would mean that I have to ride a bit farther and leave a bit earlier...but I could shower at work and keep stuff in a locker vs. carrying it all with me.
It should keep me on track & smelling better. They monitor it, so I will have to maintain biking to work 2x per week to keep the locker. As far as I can tell, the only downsides are having to leave earlier, travel a bit farther, and restart my dorky B2W tally. The advantages outweight the disadvantages.
Stay tuned for "Adventures with In-Home Dog Training" and the story of why we decided to pay an animal behavioralist to help us with Bandit...
Lisa great work on the bike and congrats on the new time. I drive almost 30 miles to work and I'm often going elsewhere when I get there so biking seems as if it would be an inconvenience. I'm glad that you are able to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you post your time information on an excel spreadsheet and if you need to post it on the whiteboard you can tape it up and maybe take less space.
I use something called "Running Ahead" which is a freebie online running log. I think it can be used for a biking log as well. There is a link to it on my blog, right hand side of the page.
Thanks for the information about the degree. How in the world did you get from Cincinatti to New Mexico? Do you like NM? I think I might have told you that I lived in Farmington for about 8 years (1993-2001).
Ahhhh you're a tease!! LOL When we will get the final verdict?
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that you'll be able to shower and freshen up before work now. Dang, I don't know how you do it without!
When my kids move out of the house, I'm biking to work too :-)
ReplyDeleteSo what happens if it rains 5 days in a row (probably doesn't in the desert, right), but what if? Will they throw your stuff out of your locker??
ReplyDeleteAs for the dog stories, I can't imagine they could be any worse than the ones I would have to tell, but I can't wait to hear about them!
Nice job on the bike to work! That's awesome to be able to do that!
ReplyDeleteOohh, great question about the rain! Do you lose your locker? Can't wait to hear about the jersey and the dog! I will tell you we had to call one because our dog kept snatching food from the counter! In one day she got 8 chicken breasts!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey monitor it and give a warning if they don't see you consistently riding at least 2 days per week.
ReplyDeleteYou don't loose your locker because of work travel, vacation, etc and I would imagine that a week of undesirable weather would be okay too.
I'm not too worried about it. I've been riding 2x per week consistently for the past few months with only a few weeks where (for one reason or another) I only rode once. The main intent is to make sure folks with lockers are riding consistently not people who only ride occasionally.
Good questions though.
Oh, and Randy - I *like* posting my times on my white board. It makes it visible to me all day long :)
ReplyDeleteI have a part of it marked "Do Not Erase"
I can't wait to hear the dog stories, especially since we're considering getting some behavior coaching for ours too.
ReplyDeleteI am very anxious to hear the dog stories-I am so sure that I can relate.
ReplyDeleteCool you hired the
ReplyDelete"dog whisperer", if you don't know him, he is on cable TV... He can make a dog behave any which way..
Great job keeping at chugging away with the biking..
Good luck - that shower is bound to make you more popular! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI would have voted for A - but it sounds like you made a decision.
I was thinking of biking to work next week - I'll let you know if it happens.
Glad you get a shower! :-)
