I went on a 27 mile bike ride yesterday. Midway through the ride, I stopped and sat under a tree for a bit. It was a beautiful day to be outside.
I haven't run since last Tuesday. I find it interesting that I've chosen to cycle during this time. Perhaps it is because I can go farther on my bike, allowing me more of an escape.
I thought about running this morning, but it was raining. I stayed home and played with the dogs instead. I'll run with the group this evening assuming it doesn't get cancelled for thunder storms.
Today I am going back in to work. If I really needed to, I could take another day off. We've finished up everything that needed to be done right away and I'm feeling better, so I really do think it's time to get back to a more normal routine.
Duke City (the half marathon I've been training for) is in one month and I haven't signed up yet. I hope I remember to take care of that tonight. The registration fee goes up after tomorrow.
Oh, and puppy's name is Stymie. I think. At least that is what I put on his tag. It took us a month to settle on Bandit's name, so it is quite possible that it might change. But Stymie seems to suit him at the moment.
Love the new puppy! I am glad you are finding the relief you need on a bike. I know things are tough but you are an incredibly stong woman and you impress me more and more every day as I read about your journey! Thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you!
ReplyDeleteLove the name! He's super cute too! Make sure to sign up for that half! <--Reminder
ReplyDeleteThoughts are with you.
I hope your first day back at work goes okay.
ReplyDeleteGreat name for the new puppy! Hope your first day back goes well!
ReplyDeletethe bike ride and the break under the tree sound perfect. hope the first day back goes ok. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd choose playing with Stymie too over running in the rain. Besides, he's so cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd you still got some nice mileage in on your bike ride.
Good luck your first day back. :o)
ReplyDeleteThe bike ride sounds nice, nothing like escape (I think that is my favorite word).
ReplyDeleteGood luck back at work!
I'm a day behind, but love that puppy face!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting out on the bike; I can see how that would be theraputic.
Sign up for the half!
ReplyDeleteWay to cycle! I wish I was motivated to ride after work. I think I may need to find some riding buddies or a group.
Great name for the puppy. That is one good thing about cycling/running that it is a great way to cope with stress or loss
ReplyDeleteWill this puppy be a running companion? It's good to hear that you're getting back into a routine.
ReplyDeleteCute pup!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are finding your way back to "normal". Hang in there.

I haven't been here for a while... so let me first offer my condolences about your dad. I am sorry.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy about the puppy. Stymie is a great name. Blessings on all of you.
The tone of your email is peaceful. I hope that's how you feel, as well. :)
ReplyDeleteSTYMIE! I LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting out there on the bike. There's no therapy like a long ride or run.
I hope you are doing well.
Hope you're able to flow gently back into your routine. Stymie and Bandit - sounds good. Peace!
ReplyDeleteEase back. Listen to what your mind/body needs. Just keep taking it one day at a time.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
