Well, Thursday's group run was cancelled due to weather. Then I was a slug on Friday and did nothing at all that resembled exercise. This morning I was scheduled for a 10 mile run.
Got up, got ready, got to the meeting place on time, but somehow managed to leave my hydration at home on the kitchen counter. D'oh!
Without hydration, I decided to cut it short and do only 5 miles instead. Coach thought that was fine, given that I haven't run in 10 days or so, but also mentioned that the next two weeks are the most important. Translation - easing back into it is okay for today, but no more slacking off; Duke City is in one month.
Oh, and thx for the reminders. I did get us signed up Thursday evening. WoooHooo!!!
stinks that you forgot your hydration but at least you got a run in....
ReplyDeleteGreat job getting back into it. I've been completely slacking with my blog but we adopted two young dogs too. Sounds like you guys are having fun with the new one!
ReplyDeleteVery smart to cut the run shorter. Hydration is important on those long runs.
ReplyDeleteStill, you got in a 5 miler!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you made the right choice, only doing 5 miles
ReplyDeletegood choice. :)
ReplyDelete5 miles is a good get back at it number :-)
ReplyDeletesmart decision :)
ReplyDeletesounds smart! Have fun getting back into it!
ReplyDeleteSmart!! wouldn't want to find you in a crumpled heap!
ReplyDeleteGood choice. At least you got a decent run in. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get the five in - it wouldn't have felt good to try for the full 10 w/o hydration!
ReplyDeleteyou have so much under your belt and such a great mental attitude with your training, that I"m sure you will ease in to it and have an enjoyable race on Oct 18
ReplyDeleteKnowing you, you will do find at the Duke City half, even if you do ease back into it slowly. Give yourself time. Loss and grief affect each of us in strange ways, but a huge fatigue seems to be normal.
