This morning I went to the pool AGAIN. Yes, that's the third time this week. Since I ended up paying for a monthly membership at the gym, I'm trying to get my price per swim down to a reasonable level. Ha!
I know I've asked this before, but does anyone have any advice about waterproof mp3 players / headphones? I'm seriously looking at the Waterfi Ipod Shuffle. I can get it from amazon for about $155 including headphones and shipping and could have it by Monday if I order before noon. It has a 2 yr warranty, and would be familiar. But is it worth it? That's the big question.
There's another one that I'm looking at as well, by Audio Flood. It's a little cheaper, different headphones. Same 2 year warranty.
I have never like running on a treadmill because it's boring. That's why I always run outside. But lap swimming is equally boring and I don't have any other options for swimming, so I need a distraction. I think music would help. Any advice would be appreciated!
I honestly never thought about listening to an mp3 player in the pool. I hope you find a system that works for you!
ReplyDeleteI wish I advice, but I don't swim with music. Looking forward to seeing what you choose and like, so I can copy you.
ReplyDeleteYes! Check out http://www.x-1.com/store/swimming.html, they will cover your existing music player so you don't have to setup another device, or get one with a new shuffle. cheaper and better than waterfi.
ReplyDeleteI pulled out the mat to do yoga this morning and fell asleep on the couch after the first pose. so that was weird. It also means I'm going to skip my swim tonight to make up for the workout that I was originally skipping to do yoga instead. Fun times!
I did check out the x-1 site just now. if my existing 2nd gen shuffle wasn't on it's last legs, this would be a good option. But I would still need a new shuffle. The price with shuffle is same as audio flood. So I think I'm just going with the audio flood

DeleteNever thought of swimming like running on a treadmill. I'm a terrible swimmer (no triathalons for me!). If you really wanna stick with the swimming, anything to make it better is definitely worth it.
ReplyDeleteI would go as often as you are, too! lol Sorry I don't have advice about waterproof headphones or iPods! Good luck! Hope you find something that works for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I don't use the waterproof music stuff although have seen people with a variety of devices... I'm not sure how I find it - I used to find swimming boring but at somepoint it became very cathartic and relaxing! I think that is because I'm concentrating so hard on not drowning that my head gets a rest from all the other things which usually fill it!! ha ha!!
ReplyDeletePS: If I find anyone who wears an MP3 I'll drop you a line.
PPS: Thanks for the comments...I am finding the Juneathon is giving me that focus!
Well done with the regular swimming! I can't give any advice on music players as I don't use any myself.
ReplyDeleteLap swimming is indeed boring! I've done it a few times, and then got too bored. I know waterproof mp3 players exist, but unfortunately I don't know where you can get them.
