rose-colored glasses

I'm making an attempt at finding the positive and skipping the negative today. Looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, if you will.

I was able to take the rest of the week off from work. I have no specific plans which means I can spend the time however I want.

I don't know the technical name of the springy thing that broke on the garage door a few days ago, but I think I found someone who can come look at it and/or fix it tomorrow. And by golly, that *was* on the top of my list for how to spend my time since I don't have to go into work.

My computer is running faster with less crud on it. And as far as I know, I am too. Now that my downloaded Garmin records are gone, I get to start fresh with my run/bike data. As far as I know, today was a PR on that 2 mile loop with a hill - and while we're at it, I can't prove to myself that I've ever gone farther than that either.

I didn't lose *all* of my digital photos. I hadn't cleared the memory card in my camera for a few months and was able to redownload those.

My son got his top braces off today. What a killer smile! We go back for his retainer next week. And the bottom braces come off a few weeks later. Then the bottom retainer the week after that. By the end of the next month, I'll be able to find my way to the orthodontics office on auto-pilot.

After the dog broke the cable box by 'marking' it, it was *easy* to convince Husband that we should look into in-home dog-training sessions.
Today is only supposed to have a high of 90deg; that's practically a cold spell.

I've discovered that the sit-on-you-rear-all-day-complaining-about-the-heat-while-eating-ice-cream diet doesn't work unless your goal is to gain 5lbs fast. And by sharing that with others, I may have just saved someone from learning that the hard way. No need to thank me, I'm here to help.

  1. Hi Lisa... I've been trying the sit-on-your-rear-all-day-and-complain-about-the-rain-whilst-drinking-red-wine diet - that one doesn't work either, leads to less training and more bleary eyed mornings then necessary. ;o)

    Oh and GREAT PB!

Have been thinking about a Garmin - so you prefer over Polar, seems a trend there from people I've asked.

  2. Nor does the eating-too-much-of-mom's-home-cooked-meals-while-drinking-beer diet work either. I gained five pounds :-)

I have a hard drive enclosure that plugs into the USB port if you want to borrow it. You can use it to see if there is anything available on the old hard drive.

You could pack up the hard drive and send it to me. I could check it for you.

  5. While we are all being honest here:
I've been on the sit-on-your-rear.......white wine and dark chocolate diet!

Your son does have a lovely smile -make sure he wears that retainer and don't get too upset when he looses, like three of 'em!

When I was in High School I brought a guy home that I was dating and our doxie Jessie peeed ALL OVER his back pack! I wish I had gotten the message then and not six months later when he cheated on me!

    Take Care and Smile!

  8. What a hottie your son is!
When I feel fat I go for a walk. I tell myself "just five minutes", then I can turn around. I always walk longer and I know the fresh air does me good. Even if it's hot out, you can still walk and not want to pass out.

  9. Well I have been on that diet myself a few times, and you're right when you say its a great way to gain 5 (or more!) pounds fast. But you seem to be also moving forward in your goal to change that, so its just a little detour, right? Your son is very handsome looking. I know you'll be glad to get rid of those braces!

  10. Nothing wrong with rose-colored glasses. I'm a "glass-half-full" kind of guy myself.

  17. Nice looking young man there Mom.

I managed to gain 7 lbs. while training for a half-marathon... I don't think I will try to sit on my rear all day and eat ice cream - although maybe I would LOSE weight and it sure would be fun!
