Remember I was going to see the Trainer guy so he could push me through my core stuff? Well I showed up Wednesday morning and happened to mention that my muscles were a little tight and wanted to stretch first.
Out of nowhere, the foam roller appeared. When this happens, my friends, be afraid. Be very afraid. Trainer guy tortured me with that evil piece of foam for the entire session.
Oh.the.PAIN. Apparently, the more it hurts, the more you need it. Either that or he just enjoys watching his clients' reactions when they roll over those tight spots.
Having survived the session, the weirdest thing happened. I felt noticably less tense. It was amazing. Maybe rolling isn't so bad after all.
The evil device must have lured me with some sort of trickery. Guess who's all giddy because Husband has his hands on a foam roller and is bringing it home this evening?
Weekday workout summary:

You're excited about the foam roller? :)
ReplyDeleteAre you a glutton for punishment or what?!?! LOL Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this foam roller. I need to look into this. Let us know how you feel tomorrow morning for some feedback on the long term effects of this magic foam roller device.
ReplyDeleteFoam roller = Satan
ReplyDeleteNice running mileage this week! Glad the foam roller helped :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he doesn't see my stretching routines...or lack there of lately. He would have to foam roller me for 24 hours to get these muscles loose
ReplyDeleteFunny thing...as i am opening the box to the garmin i was also reading your comment to me!! I'm a little afraid of the garmin though! Should i be??
ReplyDeleteFREAKY!!
Yes, i hope that article is a hoax!!
Your doing great!! Foam roller? Once again, i have no clue!!!
Ah, the foam roller. It hurts so good.
ReplyDeleteYES! I put Mr. Tea through that torture. It is true that the more you need it, the more it hurts.
ReplyDeleteCheck out some of the youtube videos on how to do the stretches correctly. Also, you can adapt the exercises until you are able to do them correctly.
I'm sure Dee Dee would have overnighted hers :-)
ReplyDeleteOuchie!! That foam roller hurts!
ReplyDeleteThe roller is really good for you, I promise.
ReplyDeleteYou did the whole session on the foam roller and then were crazy enough to buy one? Holy cow!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was using it for my knee (IT band issues) I was panting and practically crying, my husband came in and said "you MUST be doing that wrong. It can't be meant to hurt that much."
You crazy!
p.s thanks for the support on the in-law nightmare. It was a tough few days.
Ah, yes. Those things LOOK all nice and innocent...
ReplyDeleteI've recently gotten to know the little bugger myself. It hurts, but it helps!
ReplyDeleteHaven't had experience with the foam roller yet, but have heard the stories.
ReplyDeleteOuch, ouch, ouch! Foam rollers are BRUTAL. They do seem to do the job though. Nice workouts this week :-) You have a great balance going there.
ReplyDeleteI probably so need that roller.. You are brave-very brave! And you probably paid him for the session too!
ReplyDelete:)
That's right! Love the pain LOL. I hear you, it hurts so bad but it's so worth it ;-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I guess I'm going to be the single voice of dissent. I did the foam roller thing when I had my horrible IT band issues, and it did nothing for me. I practically bled out my eyes using that stupid thing, and only go better when I stopped using it, switched BACK to my old shoes, and started doing different stretches. I hope it works for you, though. It has a large fan base.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up Lisa, sounds like you need a weekend at a spa!
ReplyDeleteI hear you about being "enchanted" with working out right now. Here I am, Sunday morning 6:30am, not looking forward to 12K.
However, the Wooo Hooo Du will be fun!
Hmmm... I have never experienced that, and judging by what you wrote, I probably never will. Pain and me don't get along too well. =)
ReplyDeleteI have only seen the foam roller in a demonstration and it looked innocent enough.....it wasn't until I saw the look on the person's face that it was a form of torture. LOL I am glad it helped you.
ReplyDeletehey....i like the new blog background!! i need a new one, too :)
ReplyDeleteI have heard so many foam roller stories I think I will run from the room screaming if I ever see one!
ReplyDeleteTake Care
