I took Sunday as a recovery day. My legs appreciated that greatly. Monday was 2 miles on the dreadmill and some time invested in stretching.Today was my strength work.
Blah blah blah, pretty boring, huh?
So what's on my mind? I've realized that I am more excited about the upcoming half marathon than I was for any of my races last year. I have spent some time thinking about possible reasons:
1) Husband is running with me. Running with Husband is awesome. I'd rather run with him at any distance than race alone.
2) I'm not afraid. Last year, I was afraid of not being able to finish, being last, or generally being slow. These days I'm more concerned about not starting than how long it takes to get to the finish line.
3) This is MY year. I choose to live MY life, chase MY goals, and race MY races. And the upcoming half happens to be one of them. :)
Have a freakin blast!

Yeah, Lisa!!
ReplyDeleteI love the confidence and excitement :)
Longer races are more fun after you get 1 or 2 under your belt. You know what to expect, and I expect you will have a great half marathon!!
I can DEFINITELY see why you are more excited about this half-mary than any of your previous races. It's always cool to run w/ someone you know in a race & here's to letting go of that fear of not being able to finish!
