First off, I know that I'm behind in cathing up with all of you. I'm very sorry about that. I'll catch up when I get home this weekend, I promise.
We still have a few days left here. A typical vacation day for us usually includes spending time at the beach or pool in the early morning, then cleaning up and heading out to explore the island.
We've been up and down the west coast, which is the dry side. There are several historic places to visit and learn about the history of the island. We've also explored the rainier side on the east coast which is where the waterfalls and rainforest areas can be found.
It's not all beaches and waterfalls here on the Big Island for me, I'm actually working through my half marathon training as well.
Before leaving, I made a point of getting in my long run for the weekend. I did the 9:1 walk run. I'm very happy with how that felt and even happier with my splits. I think the even miles were ones with two walk breaks and the odd miles were ones with one walk break. So it was fairly even once I got warmed up.
And on the island, I'm experiencing the wonders of oxygen. On Monday I ran 3 miles in just under 30minutes. And this morning, I ran 5 miles in just under 52 minutes, including walk breaks. What a different it makes to be at sea level rather than 5000ft!! Some day, I'd really like to do a race at a lower altitude.
That's all for now...have a great day everyone!
Beautiful! Don't worry about us. Enjoy your vacation. We'll all be right here when you get back.

Good job training even on vacation. Its hard to do that sometimes, to work your schedule around everyone else's. But that's what moms do all the time, right? I keep forgetting you are at such a high elevation! I don't have that excuse! Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
