Patriot Prep

I'm trying to get excited about the upcoming Patriot Tri (3 weeks out) in addition to the half marathon that I'm running in October. My only goals at Patriot are to better my time from last year and have fun. Should be doable since I did this race with a bum knee the weekend after DNFing at Chips-n-Salsa and walked a good deal of the run portion.

Swam Sunday morning before church and again today before work. On Sunday the swim went well and I was able to share with someone who swam "narrow." Today's swim was not so good as I was sharing with someone who swam "wide." I got kicked twice, hit once. Tried to chalk it up to good triathlon training, but it wasn't a lot of fun.

Got my commuter bike all fixed up and am actually considering commuting again on Wed to the gym and to work. Still haven't touched my LeMond though. I brought it in the house and it's just sitting there all pitiful on a flat rear tire. I'd like to have it ready to ride on Friday.

I'm scheduled to run Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday. Five miles easy tomorrow, a Tempo run Thursday, and then nine on Saturday. As always, these are the workouts I'm most looking forward to this week.

  6. sounds like you are going to be well prepared for your upcoming races. I am often a wide swimmer. I will often wait for a lane to open up just so I dont have to share a lane

  8. do you have 'keep right' signs at your pool? I'm still gobsmacked at the notion that you swim up and down on the same side of the lane so can only fit two per lane!

  12. Great job getting the two morning swims in -- sorry about the kicks and hits. That stinks. But, you're right, it IS probably good training for the tri! It seems like people get kicked/hit all the time in those races.
