Talked to Coach and he agrees with 3 days a week running. It worked for me before. That's the new plan for now.
Went to the pool Sunday morning as well as this morning. Both times I had a good swim. Today I augmented with upper body afterwards. Good stuff.
The glute/hip/back/knee issue is a lot better than it was on Saturday morning. Good thing, as I have high hopes for a successful 5 mile easy run tomorrow morning before work.
Everything seems to be coming together except for one little detail...cycling. I've had no luck finding someone to team with me at Patriot either. Gah! I guess I just need to hunker down and cycle commute at least one day this week. That will get me started. Targetting Wednesday since I nixed my run that day. I'll just take it one day at a time after that.
Can we ride together?? I need a buddy at my pace.

ReplyDeleteI think 3 days a week is enough running- its hard on the body and you are working your muscles in other days.

ReplyDeleteWe're going to have to start a new 3-day a week running club. I'll never run more than that again. I swear it. All my current injuries started last winter when I was trying to run four and five days a week...Lesson learned

Lots of people swear by 3 days a week of running. In fact, I think there was an article in RW in the last issue about 3 day a week plans.
ReplyDeletewhen you hit the weights do you do a lot of core work? you'd be amazed how much that can take care of glute/hip/back/knee issues.

ReplyDeleteYou know, I actually have seldom run more than 3 days a week, ever, in my life. Always just too busy doing other things (work, cross-training, etc). It actually may be one of the reasons I've seldom had any serious injuries for how long I've been running.

ReplyDelete3 days a week running sounds reasonable. I read this book called "Run Less, Run Faster" and they recommend running only three days a week (plus a lot of other info). Maybe worth a trip to the library (or bookstore, I'm a library rat).
Ooooh nice new layout! Cycling is hardest to organise :( I know! Move over here and we can ride together!

ReplyDeleteI've been doing three days per week training for several years. Have not had an issue making it to the finish line of any marathons just yet.
