- Sometime last week I lost my purple sport watch. It's the one I use at the pool and also for days when I don't care for data overload from my garmin. I'm bummed. I guess I can look for a new one at Target or something, but I'm mad at myself for losing a perfectly good watch for no good reason. D'oh!
- I bought a new pair of BRIGHT orange Nike shorts from Marshalls the other day. Super comfy and in a you-can't-miss-me color. What's not to love about that?! [Hey, if you know me on facebook, please try the how well do you know me quiz just to make me feel loved and oh by the way Marshall's is an answer in case you haven't figured that out by now. ]
- I feel compelled to share why my rockin' swim from the splash and dash is particularly awesome (for me). As I've mentioned before, I didn't learn to swim until just before my 40th birthday. Some of you may remember that; others may not have ever known it. Anyway, it amazes me how comfortable I am in the water now. My swim just gets better and better. [I wish I could say the same for my running, but alas, that's an entirely different story.]
- The local Women's Distance Festival races are coming up weekend after the 4th. Last year I took third in my AG and got a cute charm bracelet. Might do that again, although I truly don't expect to place.
- We had a lot of rain on Thu and Fri. No big deal, right? But then on Fri and Sat nights the family was kept awake by the annoying loud croaking of frogs/toads. In the freaking desert!! Where the heck did they even come from and why are they so annoyingly loud?!?!? [I was ready to hunt them down and relocate them last night, but they were smart and kept quiet. I'm on to you, stupid frogs!]
You should feel very proud of your swimming accomplishment. Quit saying (for me)! Put your shoulders back, stand up tall and be proud. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, I know exactly how you feel about swimming. It is HARD to learn as an adult and to feel at ease in the water now is HUGE. Congrats to you on that. And funny about the noisy frogs/toads. We hear them a lot during the summer (rainy season) but you'd expect that in a swamp, not high desert. Weird.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to take the test just to show that I don't know you a bit.as this just would be too embarrassing after reading your blog, what must be now, one year, since I remember the charm bracelet from last year ... boy that was a long sentence ... anyway, hope you get the watch back.
ReplyDeletemaybe the frogs keeping you up all night are just preparing you to be kept up all night by fireworks...
ReplyDeletecongrats on your comfort in the pool, that's a huge accomplishment! I've always loved the pool, but never had any endurance... so like you, it's just such a wonderful feeling! Well done! Hope the frogs disappear soon! Good luck this weekend!
ReplyDeleteHaha I didn't know frogs were so abundant in the desert! A couple jumped into my friends swimming pool the other night though which was kind of hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I knew that you only recently learne to swim. And look at you know! That's amazing.
ReplyDeleteBright orange Nike shorts.....ROCK!
ReplyDeleteMy orange Nike shorts are my absolute favorite pair of shorts. I've had them for about 4 years and I wear them for nearly all my races because I consider them "lucky."
ReplyDeleteFroggies were just waiting for a bit of rain to come out and play! It's awesome seeing your hard work pay off!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the super bright athletic gear - hooray bright orange!!
ReplyDeleteI bet all of the toads will dry out on another day or two. They can't stay out and alive all that long in the desert!
Sorry about your watch. I think the frogs must have travelled there from Florida. They pretty much hang out in my yard in packs and have little froggy conventions.
ReplyDeleteGlad your swim is getting better and better!
You are preaching to the choir about the swimming vs. running. My swimming has come so far this season and my running...eh.
ReplyDeleteWe have had so much rain here in the northeast the animals have been paring off in two's....maybe those frogs/toads lost their way...hey guys! the ark is here sitting in the Hudson River.
sorry about the watch..I hate when things like that happen.
I want to see those shorts!
ReplyDeleteawesome about swimming. Some day I might learn how. Good luck in the Women's Distance race and can't wait to hear about the awesome placement you will achieve.
ReplyDeleteWow, I did not know that you didn't know how to swim until you were almost 40! You should be dang proud of yourself, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteYour orange nike shorts would be a perfect match to my orange sneakers. I love bright colors -they soo make me run faster! :)
ReplyDeletemy friends always find nike stuff at marshalls! i never do :(
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show us all, that you're never too old to learn. :)
ReplyDeleteNow, if you pair those bright orange shorts with a chartreuse running singlet, then you'd really have something! J/K, sort of. Sometimes it's a good thing to stand out. :)
Bummer about the watch.

ReplyDeleteWhen we were camping in Idaho, a songbird sang two mornings in a row at about 4:30 a.m. My husband loved it. I also wanted to hunt it down, as you did the frogs....
