Monday Miscellany

* I haven't been able to find my new favorite running shorts in the local stores, but found a taupe colored pair on ebay in my size. Happily used "buy it now" to get them on their way to me. Yes, I sometimes buy running clothes on ebay. What does that say about me?

* Bailed at mile 5 of my 6 mile run on Saturday due to the return of hamstring tendonitis pain. Walked the final mile back in. Not happy about that, but trying not to get to discouraged. I think the hill sprints on Thursday were too much too soon. Simply need to back off a bit and make sure I'm 100% healed before pushing myself too hard.

* Did yoga on Friday and Sunday for the first times all month. I need to conciously make more time for yoga. I like how it makes me feel. Intending to do it again tomorrow morning and then run in the evening.

* Can't put my finger on it but I'm lacking motivation and I don't like how that feels. Put a few events on the calendar to try to keep the lazies at bay.

  1. sorry that the funk is trying to creep in and the hamstring is giving you problems, hopefully some events, along with rest and ice will help!

  3. Good idea to take it down a notch to ensure your hamstring pain subsides. Here's hoping a little rest does the trick.

Hopefully having a few events on the calendar to look forward to will get that spring back in your step!

  4. Maybe you're just discouraged about the hamstring issue again. You sound excited when running with your group. Maybe that's what you need to do and don't worry about other things until you get a spark again.

  5. "What does that say about me?"

That you are a runner, triathlete, and very smart :-)

  6. Sign up for a race-that helped me and my motivation...plus you have had some emotional things to deal with-can be exhausting (trip to dads)..

  7. I need to make more time for yoga too! I hope your hamstring tendonitis clears all the way up soon. (That might help the motivation too.)

  8. What does that say about me??

Your a person who knows where to shop to get your fav running shorts. Which ones are they by the way?

I like the Nike running shorts myself.

  9. I love ebay for stuff I have the exact sizes and brands for! I have been buying my running shoes from there and have saved so much! I am sorry about the pain, but it sounds like you are on the right track with rest and yoga. Take care of yourself!

  10. Those hill sprints will put a lot of strain on you, especially before you have really built back your base. Be careful with those while you are trying to recover.

  11. Hill sprints might be the trouble for the hammie, FOR SURE. I too, always have to have something on the calendar or my motivation takes a vacation. Give into your funk for one day, there may be a reason for it. On the second day, get back to your normal routine. Life is too short for funk to take over. ;)

  13. yeah i had to learn the hard way during recovery you just don't get to do speedwork for awhile.

i was thinking of starting another 31 day yoga challenge because that really got me motivated to do it last time and I loved it

  15. I HATE when products or items are that I LOVE are no longer in stores.... grr! Glad you found a pair online.

  16. Don't be bummed about not doing the planned miles. To me, doing something is 100% better than doing nothing.

  17. That unwarranted lack of motivation is a tricky one! Good idea to put some events on the calendar. Hope that helps. I also hope you are able to find more of your favorite shorts! Super important. :) New running clothes are a good motivation to run.

  18. Injuries and motivation are often linked in madening ways. Hopefully both turn around asap.

  19. I bet the hills are to blame for your hammy pain. Hills require so much work out of them. Good long term, but you definitely need to ease into the work. Rest up! MAybe that will shake the funk, too.
