In the spirit of celebrating what I CAN do and not berating myself for what I CANNOT, I wish to share some recent victories. I've learned that positive self-talk can significantly affect my mood and I choose to be happy today.
* I can now do 3x15 ab curls unassisted. When I started, I couldn't do a single one without help. On a related note, I've upped the weight on rope crunches. Clearly my ab strength is improving.
* While doing Yoga today I was able to hold a few poses for the entire duration. Previously, I needed to stop, take a break, and restart on those.
* Last night the scale returned a number that I haven't seen in a very long time. It was a bit crankier this morning, goal weight is within sight.
* Did well with the hill sprints workout last night. One of my fellow runners even commented at one point "wow, you're good at these hills"
Share with me and be happy with yourself! What small wins are you celebrating?
AWESOME! You are so right. We need to quit beating ourselves up and celebrate the greatness in our lives. ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a marvelous weekend!
Congrats on having your goal weight within reach...that is GREAT..
ReplyDeleteI celebrate today because this time last year I could not run 3 miles without stopping and feeling out of breath. Now I can run it QUICKLY and will be running my first half marathon on Sunday..
I LOVE the idea of sharing the happy things.
It sounds like you have a lot to be happy about today. GOOD FOR YOU!
ReplyDeleteI love the'choose to be happy' attitude. Sometimes, it's too easy to let things bring us down.
You are so right to choose positive self talk and celebration! The better I get at it, the happier I feel - even when situations are challenging. Yay!
ReplyDeleteYes, totally agree that positive self talk is much more productive than the opposite. Right now, though, I am still on a huge high from a well run marathon and celebrating a big win.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all your small wins!
I look smokin' hott in these heels I'm wearing today! Whoa I haven't said that in fo-evah!
ReplyDeleteI love how your holding those poses w/out a break! You're getting stronger mama~have a great weekend.
way to stay positive...
ReplyDeletei'm happy that i have a job in a tough economy right now, and for the fact that people still ask me, almost daily, "have you lost weight?"
Today I'm really happy that I got a good open water swim in even though initially I did not want to go and considered blowing it off.
ReplyDeleteThose all sound like things worth celebrating to me. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI agree-- making positive statements about myself (and other people!) can help me transform my mood. This morning I figured out how to do something work-related that made me feel pretty darned smart-- sad that by this afternoon I'd already almost forgotten about it! I'm going to try to let my mind linger on it for when I'm getting frustrated.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and a good reminder to think about what's going right! For me, it was a great visit to my chiropractor's office. I haven't been in a while, and now my feet feel great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super list to celebrate! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThe small victories add up!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I love the idea of listing the positive changes. I may have to try that. :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your hard work is paying off! That is so motivating. And to see the difference on the scale and to hear other people say it... even better!
An accomplishment for me: Six months ago, I never would have dreamed I could take on a 21 mile run/walk and actually finish it!
I ran slower than ever this morning but I went out when I didn't want to = WIN
ReplyDeleteAll good stuff that you have listed and you should be proud. Keep the positive going.
ReplyDeleteI did an annual with the family doc and I am in perfect health..w00t.
ReplyDeletecheers,
Cliff
Love that you got the hill compliment. That's awesome! Can, can, can!
ReplyDeleteCongrats missy!! Your doing sensational!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess my win today is I ran 8 miles in 1.26. AND I FEEL GOOD!!!!
WIN WIN!!!
Small wins, Lisa? You're kidding, right? They are huge, every single one of them. You are going strong. Kick ass!
ReplyDeleteOh, what are rope crunches?
The small wins I am celebrating are similar to yours--feeling strong and capable in the things I can't do, and trying not to stress over the things I can't do. Congrats! Makes life a lot more fun, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you're doing so well!!!
ReplyDeleteMy litte victory, is feeling good about biking and finally not feeling like my life sucks because I am not running as much as I want...
Just found your blog and it looks like it was the right day- we all need to work on positive self talk. Congrats on all of the those accomplishments! Some day I am going to be able to hold all my yoga poses too :)
ReplyDeleteI call those BIG things but whatever floats your boat, Lisa!
ReplyDeletemy small win? I'm not fast, but I'm OUT THERE and I'm doing it and that's more than most people can say.
Great topic & post, it was fun reading everyone elses' wins as well.
ReplyDeleteMy small win--another triathlete found my blog & emailed me to say how much she liked it. That is totally my love language, it made my week.
Yay for small victories! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty proud of myself right now for even trying to run half marathons two weekends in a row, regardless of how I actually did in each one.
MCM Mama
Wow! Abs of steel! Way to rock it!
ReplyDeleteGreat positive thoughts!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great to hear the off hand compliments like from your hill run too - great work!
