How's Your Running?

Yesterday, a colleague at work asked a simple question, "How's your running?"

It made me think for a moment. I immediately started going through numbers in my head. Am I running any faster? More volume? Further distances? Does my training plan make sense? Am I on track for my upcoming races?

But wait...

There is something about running that's different and it has nothing to do with the numbers.

It's the process. That feeling of being alive. Putting one foot in front of the other. Moving my body from point A to point B. Taking in the sights and smells along the way.

So how's my running? I'd have to say that it's good. Really good.

  1. Isn't it sad that we tend to relate the numbers aspect with how "good" our running is? Sometimes you just gotta take a step back. Very nice, Lisa ;D

  14. Ain't that the truth! I've never really liked that question because it's more of one of those passing "how are you?" But for me, it alays stops me dead in my tracks. Somedays are good; somedays aren't, but every day is a gift. I just have to remind myself of that.

  24. Oh thought I had added comment but turns out I stopped and stared and forgot for 24hours...

Anyhow. Yes completely agree... running is going good when it feels good and is enjoyable... regardless of what the watch or miles say .. the greatest measure after all is how you found it, if you get me.
