In which I aspire to Make Lemonade

Physical Fitness over the past half week has been a whopping goose egg.
  • Didn't Run Thursday due to high (~35mph) winds.
  • Didn't make up the run Friday due to cold/windy weather
  • Didn't run Saturday due to cancelled groups and decision to cycle instead
  • Didn't Cycle more than 5 miles due to wind sucking the life/fun out of me
  • Didn't Run Sunday due to decision to skip race (btw, Husband did great!)
  • Didn't Cycle Sunday due to rain, thunderstorms, and Hail
  • and I won't be running with the Group on Tuesday due to a personal conflict
*Sigh*

So yeah, it feels like Life has been pelting me with Lemons lately. And my mood has been equally sour. This is not a good way to be, so with my extra free time, I tried to Make Lemonade in other areas of my life.
  • Replaced veggie plants in my garden that had been affected by late frost
  • Ordered Patio furniture for the new shade structure
  • Ordered Mother's Day flowers for Mom & MIL
  • Ordered graduation gift for Son
  • Practiced Dog Obedience skills with Stymie & Bandit
  • Watched the Blind Side (on DVD)
  • Spent an hour doing Wii Fit.
  • Made a serious dent in Laundry Mountain (it never ends!)
  • Tried a new soup recipe - delicious!
It's not the same as running or cycling, but it beats moping around the house...

  2. I think keeping up with life stuff is just as important as running and cycling. You have many hats and this week was more of a mom, wife hat week.

I see no lemons, just lemonade!

  3. Things will pick up. Sounds like you took care of some much needed attention elsewhere. Way to switch focus and still be productive!

  6. Yeah, it's raining lemons over here, too. I'd much rather make margaritas, though. LOL. You'll get back on track. It sounds like you've been extra busy lately.

  7. Sometimes things out of our control throw running, etc off, but you'll get back to it in no time!

Training choices are tricky, but your list makes sense to me! Enjoy those new plants, flowers & furniture!

  9. I caught up on laundry too this past week, while work got in the way of lunch work outs and other stuff. I did manage three bike rides, so not a total fail.

It is always good to try to make a positive out of a negative.

  12. OMG 4 days without exercise - clearly you are SLACK and will immediately become permanently slothful :P JOKING!! that a actually sounds like most weeks at my house, except for the part where you did heaps of pleasant and productive stuff!

  13. Hi Lisa,
Ha ha, I just read Wes's comment...he always cracks me up:) If it makes you feel better, we all have days or even weeks like this. Maybe you didn't get all of your workouts in but you were able to get so many other things finished. It is tough to balance life and I have no doubt that you will be back on track soon:)

I would love new patio furniture for our deck too! We have had ours for 12 years:( Hang in there Lisa!!

  14. it feels productive to get non-running things done though, doesn't it? my non-running life is slacking, i feel i will never catch up even when i have rest days/weeks.

hope you are able to get out for some solid mileage this week!
