Strength Training

I have been going to the gym for upper body strength work once a week for the past few months. It's taken me a while to appreciate the time spent doing exercise that seems to be very boring to me. However, everything I read says I should be doing this 2-3 times per week to maximize results. Since I'm starting to enjoy the slow pace of strength work and the mornings are pretty chilly these days before work, I've decided to commit to twice a week effective immediately...at least until the morning weather is a little friendlier.

Anyway, all that's left now is for me to make it happen. :)

  1. Good for you! Sometimes it is hard to follow through on something you're not seeing immediate results for doing. A triathlon coach here says that 2 weight workouts a week can totally eliminate one run workout, it can be that effective. The hard part is being consistent. I'm trying too!

  2. Good plan! I find it boring, too, but am always glad I did it.

I bet you'll get some great results!

  3. this has nothing to do with my post, but the dishwasher guy is coming tomorrow to FIX the dishwasher with our new motor. I am SO tired of washing dishes by hand, the $$ for the motor is starting to seem not so bad. LOL.

  5. You'll get hooked on weight training - especially if there's lots of eye candy at your gym ;)

  6. Hi Lisa, I've just started strength training for the same reason (cold and pre-season!), I hear 2 workouts will do it - need to include muchos core exercises too.

As for Boots' ashes. Well my Mum and I took our old dogs ashes to her favorite park one Christmas day many years ago. We surreptitiously scattered these in the long grass she loved to snuffle and roll in... only for a gust of wind to blow her back on our legs!!! She was always a mischievous hound and we figured this was her final laugh. Still I go to that park and know she's there somewhere :o)

  15. I definitely think it will be worth it - I've been doing Pilates once a week for years and I haven't improved at all - time to step it up. Now I'm swimming only once a week (down from twice or more) - I'm sure it's not doing me much good! I'm without a dishwasher either (redoing the kitchen very slowly) and I'm sick of it!
