Tuesday evenings are the running group meetings. However, I needed to run this morning before facing the day. The group would just have to meet without me. Note that I said needed to run, not wanted to run. Some days are just like that, you know?
When I got out on the trail, each step would be like hitting the backspace key, working to erase the stress in my life. Didn't bring the Garmin along. This wasn't about pace and I already knew where my turn point was. This was about enjoying nature. Taking in the sights, smells, and sounds.
By the end, I could honestly say that I was in a good mood and ready to face the day.
August Tally:
Thoughts:- 66.4 mi walking
- 28.8 mi running
- 5850 yds in the pool
- 13 trips up the hill
- 2 rest days
- 3 trips to urgent care/ER for daughter
- 4 calls from school about related absences
- 1 child off to college
- 1 volunteer event
- Run + walk = 95.2 miles by feet which is my highest month ever.
- My knee treatment worked, no more pain. Hallelujah!
- Best swim was a 400 yd TT under 9 minutes
- Best run was Saturday's negative split progressive run
- Favorite run was my 4 miler this morning.
- Favorite walks was hiking Garin with JoLynn
- The sunrise as viewed from out on the mesa never gets old
- Trips to Urgent Care/ER are never fun
- Volunteering is cool, but participating is better
- Nothing concrete. Hitting 100 miles by feet would be cool. So would doing some race for fun. Otherwise, I guess I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Sometimes I just NEED to run too. Like tonight, can't wait to hit the pavement!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I need to run everyday - actually I haven't missed a day of my training schedule and would live to run on the rest and x-training days.
ReplyDeleteNice mileage totals!
Great summary of the month!
Sounds like JUST what you needed!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the mileage milestone for August!
Yes, I agree. Some days are just like that, where you need to run - whether you want to or not!
ReplyDeleteYou got some great miles in there in August... and only 2 rest days?! WOW! I hope my September looks similar!
Keep on, keepin' on!
Congrats on a very productive month! Glad the knee is feeling better and I hope your daughter is too!
ReplyDeleteI know all about "needing" to run. So does my wife. I think there are days when all she wants to do is tell me to go out for a run so that I am less of a pain in the butt when I get back. haha :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be able to have your needs met!
ReplyDeleteYou've had a really productive month!
Every single time you do monthly stats I think I should start doing the same thing. I have yet to start.
Nice August recap. I hope your daughter is feeling better. Good to know that your knee treatment works! I hope you will have a fabulous September!
ReplyDeleteSometimes a nice run is all you need to recharge your stress batteries. Best of luck in September!
ReplyDeleteaside from the emergency care visits i'd say you had a pretty darn good month. :) glad to see you have the "need" for running to. it just makes ya feel better doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteA lot of positives in those numbers. Let's keep'em moving forward.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect run, I just love when it all comes together.
ReplyDeleteGreat Stats for August, maybe I'll start keeping track of what I do...hmmmmm
I know what you mean. Sometimes you really do need to run, to get rid of the stresses of life. I don't know what I would do without running as a way to release some stress.

I love workouts like that, they are the best
ReplyDeleteHa, 4 calls from school. I wonder if my Mom kept track????????
ReplyDeleteI love those morning runs :)
ReplyDeleteAugust was a big month for you -- in lots of ways!
ReplyDeleteI think we had about the exact same amount of miles on our feet last month. And, we got to spend a few of them together. ;)
ReplyDeleteThere is so much going on your life, no wonder you need some de-stress running ... and I'm glad it worked. And I hope your daughter is ok.
ReplyDelete2 days off the whole month?!? Man I wish I had that daily determination. I end up with too many rest days of absolutely 0 activity! Ugh I hate when I let myself do that. Pretty good comeback-August if you ask me :)
