Three Thoughts Thursday

1) Got my training schedule for now through the half marathon. The progression of upcoming weekend long runs is as follows: 8, 10, 12, 11, 9, 6, race. The only thing that I'm nervous about is that 12 miler. And not simply because it is 12 miles, but because I'll be on vacation the week between the 10 and the 12. Not sure how that's going to work out. Other than that, I'm excited to do this thing!

2) Last weekend, I brought my handheld with nuun on my long run (8 miles). This weekend, I'm switching to the belt with a combination of nuun in some bottles and accelerade in others. I'm hoping that will work out better for these upcoming runs over 7 miles.

3) I need to drop one of the cars off for service tomorrow. Assuming the weather cooperates (ie, no snow, ice, wind, etc), the plan is to toss the bike in the back and cycle home. I don't know about the rest of you, but with my busy schedule, finding creative ways to insert cross-training into an errand is generally a win for me.

  7. I run/bike to/from the repair more often than I care to admit - I wish the car didn't break down so often :-/.

  8. That's the only problem I have with the handheld... I would prefer some electrolyte mix and water separately. But I really hate my belt!

Looks like a good plan for the remainder of your cycle.

  9. Love the way you are solution minded, cycling home is a GREAT idea.

I've never used a hand held bottle, just a belt. For longer distances I add two smaller bottles with just water...seems to work even while marathon training.

  12. I don't think a week off from running in between the 10 & 12 will really make much difference. But you do seem creative with the cross-training so maybe you can squeeze some type of workout in during vacation?

  13. I think that last one is brilliant. I'm not so great at thinking up things of that nature.

  21. I definitely try to run errands on my bike in the summer for the same reason you said- not enough time otherwise!

Trust me I am not coordinated and I didn't fall off the trampoline, just might have been a little off from everyone else :)

  22. Having vacation the week before your long run means you'll be able to use the 12 miles as an excuse to carb-load all week long. Looks like a win-win to me!
