1) Got my training schedule for now through the half marathon. The progression of upcoming weekend long runs is as follows: 8, 10, 12, 11, 9, 6, race. The only thing that I'm nervous about is that 12 miler. And not simply because it is 12 miles, but because I'll be on vacation the week between the 10 and the 12. Not sure how that's going to work out. Other than that, I'm excited to do this thing!
2) Last weekend, I brought my handheld with nuun on my long run (8 miles). This weekend, I'm switching to the belt with a combination of nuun in some bottles and accelerade in others. I'm hoping that will work out better for these upcoming runs over 7 miles.
3) I need to drop one of the cars off for service tomorrow. Assuming the weather cooperates (ie, no snow, ice, wind, etc), the plan is to toss the bike in the back and cycle home. I don't know about the rest of you, but with my busy schedule, finding creative ways to insert cross-training into an errand is generally a win for me.
Such a neat idea of getting your cross training in!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea for your cross training :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes it requires us to be very creative to get that cross training in!

ReplyDeleteYou have been doing great on this training. The bike home is brilliant. You are so going to rock this race. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteyou're really rocking this half plan. keep it up! aren't long runs the point of taking vacations?
ReplyDeleteI run/bike to/from the repair more often than I care to admit - I wish the car didn't break down so often :-/.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your training!!
That's the only problem I have with the handheld... I would prefer some electrolyte mix and water separately. But I really hate my belt!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good plan for the remainder of your cycle.
Love the way you are solution minded, cycling home is a GREAT idea.
ReplyDeleteI've never used a hand held bottle, just a belt. For longer distances I add two smaller bottles with just water...seems to work even while marathon training.
WTG on creative biking!
ReplyDeleteI love that you're so good at finding creative ways to get cross training into the mix! Props to you!
ReplyDeletegood thinking to stowe the bike in the car and cycle back!.
ReplyDeleteYou will get it all done!
I don't think a week off from running in between the 10 & 12 will really make much difference. But you do seem creative with the cross-training so maybe you can squeeze some type of workout in during vacation?
ReplyDeleteI think that last one is brilliant. I'm not so great at thinking up things of that nature.
ReplyDeleteyou'll get it done - and you'll rock the HM!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to hear about your half training:) I am basically training for halfs too but I don't have any real plan. I can't wait to see how awesome you will do:) Keep up the great work!!
I'm still not a fan of handheld bottles, but awesome that it works for you! YAY for HM training! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it when I exercise while getting something done!
ReplyDeleteThumbs up on the cycling! I try to keep everything in my life a distance i can walk/run from LOL.
ReplyDeleteyou can definitely do that 12 miler!
ReplyDeleteI am always trying to figure out how to get training in creative or not!
Free training because of training is always worth it.
ReplyDeleteI definitely try to run errands on my bike in the summer for the same reason you said- not enough time otherwise!
ReplyDeleteTrust me I am not coordinated and I didn't fall off the trampoline, just might have been a little off from everyone else :)
Having vacation the week before your long run means you'll be able to use the 12 miles as an excuse to carb-load all week long. Looks like a win-win to me!
ReplyDeleteVacation has always been a great time for me to get a long run in. Good luck!!
