Yes, I did!

I successfully cycle commuted Monday through Thursday, adding up to 52 miles. I also managed a couple short runs after my commute in. Yes, I'm planning to do it again as long as no thunderstorms are projected or any unforseen circumstances that would suggest that driving is a better choice.

I must share a few comments that made me smile:

* from fast cyclist passing me for the umteenth day in a row on the hill: "You just never give up, do you?" - Nope, I don't. And I'll take that as a compliment, thank you.
* from colleague at fitness center: "You're going to run after riding in?!? What are you nuts?!?" - Ha! You should meet some of my blogger friends. :)

And some things I learned:

* Much planning is required especially if there are any deviations in your normal routine.
* Pay close attention to what you pack. Keep back-ups at the office where possible.
* Bring plenty of snacks. You still need fuel, but it's food instead of gasoline.
* Errands after work are doable, but by then you smell *really* bad. Keep them short or do them some other day.
* Nasty hills don't get any shorter just because you travel up them every day, but they do become ominous each time they are conquered.

  1. Yes you did! That's fantastic, really. And fun comments along the way, to boot. Too bad about those hills, though. You'd think they'd have the decency to shrink!

  12. Awesome. And how cool that you've been noticed by another bike commuter. Won't be long before you're keeping up with him at the rate you're going. AND, I bet he doesn't toss in a run after his ride.

You'll have to change the title of your blog to "Passin' Bunnies" soon! :)

  13. I'm afraid to get run over by a car. No sidewalks = no biking for me.

  14. You make me feel guilty. I'm riding a lot but never commute to work. Thousand excuses but the truth is that they all can be overcome with a little bit of organisation. You're an inspiration.

P.S. I'm only catching up on all my blogger friend's lifes so I don't even know, yet, how you went in your ride. Shame on me.

  15. Just a note to say hello. Found your blog via running knitter. (following comments about bikes!)
We are a huge cycling family here and good job on communting all week. Hubby is riding 20 miles each way to save on gas. I ride around town with my double jogger/burley attached.
Just did my second sprint tri yesterday. Had a blast!
