Three Things Thursday - Fire, 15K, & Beating the Heat.

FIRE:  The latest New Mexico wildfire sprung out very close to where I live. This is the view I had from our hot tub patio shortly after the fire started.  A little too close for comfort. Luckily they were able to get it contained over night.

15K:  I signed Husband & I up for the Hot Chocolate 15K at end of September.  I know this race had issues in DC, but it seems to have gone well in other locations.  I've never run a 15K, and I'm excited about it!

BEATING THE HEAT:  It's been freaking hot out. Running in 95+ deg temps just isn't my cup of tea. I finally bit the bullet and started running in the morning before work. Speaking of which, I've also decided that I am *not* doing the Sunday evening race that I mentioned earlier.

  1. Much too close for comfort. Glad they got it contained.

  2. Knowing DC, I personally think the city was more of an issue than the race itself. DC is so weird in regards to traffic and getting to/from is always an issue. Any race I ran there had traffic issues. You should be fine. Good luck!

  3. I would freak out with that fire being so close to home.

15K sounds like an interesting distance. Good luck!

  4. We are in dry season and so also fire season right now. It can be very scary. We have plenty 15km races here in SA and in my 31 years of running I've done 350 of them.

  5. That is way too close for comfort! stay safe.

I really liked the 15K distance....especially when I realized I was running a 15K and not 15 miles (I didn't read the course info very close).

  6. Oh my goodness, very scary seeing that so close to home! Glad they got it under control.

I wish they would organize one of those hot chocolate races up here. How fun!

  7. I hope the smoke hasn't bothered you when you run and ride outside and that your morning runs will be more comfortable than the later ones.

  9. What kind of strategy can you have for running in this heat?

  10. That wildfire looks scary, stay safe.
To run in early morning before going to work is a good decision: I do it too.
Good luck on the 15 km.
