Try, Try Again

Somewhere along the way in Nov or December, I abandoned the push-up challenge somewhere in week 4, I believe. I was having problems with my back and problems with motivation. I also took a bloggy break. And despite good intentions, I never got the push-up challenge organized the way that I wanted to.

However, I still believe that push-ups are a great exercise so I've decided to start over. This time I'm working through column 2. I'm honestly not sure if I'll make it any farther than last time, but I'll never find out unless I try. Right?

Day 1 in column 2 calls for 6,6,4,4,5* where the 5 for the last set is a guideline for the minimum number to be done. I executed it as 6,6,4,4,8.

Wow. I think that was the first time I've ever exceeded the minimum on that last set. If nothing else, it is progress. Slow, steady progress.

  1. What I have noticed about that challenge, its not really difficult, what I find hard is remembering to do it. Its like you need to place a big sign somewhere to remind you its pushup day.

  3. Good for you!

I've been doing push-ups on my own the last couple weeks, but not following that 100 push-up program. Last time I did it I built up too fast and ended up with some shoulder pain. This time I'm taking things slower, even it takes me years to get to 100 :-)

  4. Good for you! I too kind of left that challenge at the curb. I should probably start doing them again. Like you, I should go to column 2, I didn't like column 3, too much too soon.

  7. It looks like we are all in good company on the 100 push up challenge. I have started it a couple of times and never finished. I do push ups 3x a week on my strength days...so it doesn't make sense.... Sometimes I do normal ones (and I was told by a trainer that I have good form!), sometimes with my feet on the exercise ball, sometimes I do hindu pushups too.

  15. even if you do continue to start, stop, re-start the pushup challenge - you're still working out and getting stronger. ...that's my excuse anyway :) i haven't made it all the way through either, but i figure at least i'm doing something!

  16. This sounds a little like my weight lifting... I go strong then fall off...strong....of the wagon. Oh well we are ambitious women!

  17. You're more dedicated to the push up challenge than I was. I tried it once, didn't love it and never went back. You get major props for the dedication.
