Weekend Run

Met up with the running group yesterday morning for my 6 mile run. Since I'm soooo slow compared to the other runners, I tried to get a head start. It wasn't enough to keep me from being the last of the 6 milers to come in.

Average pace was 11:14, basically the same as last weekend. The good news is that I'm fairly consistent. And not injured. That's enough to keep me happy for now, but I'm getting really tired of being the last one in. Sigh.

Today was a much needed rest day. Thought briefly about going for an afternoon swim, but changed my mind about that. Spent the day packing instead.

Tomorrow I'm heading to the gym. Plus I've got a date with some pushups. If I'm really ambitious, I might even go to the pool first. Or not. Guess it depends on how I feel when the alarm goes off.

  3. First of all, so jealous about Tahiti!

Don't worry about speed, just worry about staying strong. It will get there. You're doing great.

Besides, pretty soon, you can challenge all of them to a push-up challenge!

  4. I think that it's great that you ran the 6 miles steady and uninjured - who cares about slow?
If you sped up too much you'd have to change your Lise Slow-n-Steady name!

Feel free to use this as your Hooray Spring, I think you'll be soaking up the warm sunny spirit on your vacation!

  6. 6 miles = be proud! Coming last does suck, but you can't let that stop you.
BTW I am so inspired by you that I have recommenced the 100 pushups, so thanks! Have a great holiday :)

  7. I can relate to always being one of the ones in. It does get frustrating but I'm learning to laugh at myself for it.

Keep up the great work... you are so good about doing other workouts in addition to your running!

  17. As someone who's recently overcome her hammy problems too, I think not injured is FANTASTIC. Don't worry about speed. It will come! (at least that's what everyone is telling me and I believe them)

  20. Yay for un-injured long runs! I so wish we lived closer together! We would be chatting it up having a high old time at 11:14 pace and everyone would be lamenting the fact that they were too fast to run with us!

OMG on Tahiti!! So jealous and sooo happy for you!

  21. I finally caught up with your recent blog entries. I love the idea of the push-up tri. And Tahiti sounds fabulous! Clearly we have the tropical vacations in common. :) Have a wonderful, relaxing time!!

  22. Sounds like we could run together. My pace goes between 10 and 12 depending on the distance and the hills.
I was hoping to do this last half in 2:30 or less but missed it by 58 seconds. Oh well, I enjoyed taking pictures during the run...it's not everyday that I can run in NV when I live in NC.

Glad you are running injury free. That's my big goal after running for fun!

  25. I know what its like to be consistently last, but at least you're not last because you're injured! I'm guessing by now you have either left for your trip or are so busy getting ready we won't hear from you until you're back. Have a great time!
