Unexpected Three Day Weekends ROCK!

We usually work on President's Day. This year we had it off. I don't know why. I don't even care why. It was a nice surprise and made for a WONDERFUL weekend. The highlight was probably our bike ride on Monday.

Think about it. A.Bike.Ride. In.February.

We were so blessed to have decent weather. It was by no means warm, but it was warm enough (35-40deg) and sunny with no ice or snow or rain or wind. Dressed appropriately, it was quite pleasant.

And it was a Monday. A holiday Monday in February. Which meant the bike trails weren't crowded at all. We saw some cyclists, enough to know were weren't alone out there, but not many. And our 24.8 mile ride seemed like just the right distance given that I haven't been out on my bike since October. Far enough to be a challenge, but not too far.

Now I've got the itch. I want to get back out on my bike again. And soon.

  1. Hi Lisa,
I am glad to hear that your bike ride went well:) I need to get a bike, it sounds like fun and would be an excellent cross training option!

  2. 35-40 degrees is not nearly warm enough to tempt me to get outside on my bike, but I'm so glad you had a good ride!!

  6. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. I'm happy you had a great ride. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. I'm jealous. It snowed today here and we are expecting an ice storm tonight and you rode outside. OUTSIDE!

Did I say I'm jealous? Well, I am. Dang, I bet you'll even do it again. Sigh.

  13. i'm jealous you got the day off AND had "warm" weather! 40 or lower is still a little too chilly for me to be on the bike, i'm a wimp :)

  14. Awesome! :) We're having great Feb. weather too. Today it's sunny and almost 60 degrees! Crazy!! (I only wish I weren't sick - then I'd be out for a bike or a run to enjoy it.) Hope your good weather continues so you can scratch that itch with more biking! :)

  15. So jealous that you had weather decent enough to ride outside! I don't care how many layers I'd need, I'd get out there too, if only the streets weren't wet from snow (or melting snow) and salt :( Not good for my bike.... Sigh. Guess I'll wait!

  16. Yay for riding outside! I think I need lessons from you on how to dress for riding in the cold. I couldn't seem to wear enough to ride in even 40 -45 degs.
