I've come to the conclusion that I'm basically solar powered. As the days have become progressively shorter, my motivation and energy has all but disappeared.
Not to fear, the shortest day of the year is coming soon, and it's uphill from that point on, right? Right?!?
The running program that I participate in runs from late Jan to early November. Got an email from Coach asking if he should save me a spot for next year.
Quickly responded YES! I don't always run with the group, but having a training schedule and someone to hold me accountable to it really helps me out.
We start up again on Jan 23th. Until then, let's hope I don't put on another 10 lbs...
P.S. I'm still stalled at Week 4 Day 1 on the pushup challenge. Drat!
I feel the same way about the sun. I basically hibernate all winter and emerge after the time change.
ReplyDeleteOh me too, I'm totally solar powered (thanks for that, it all makes sense now, LOL).
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to worry about gaining weight, you are always so busy...it just won't happen!
Yes, these short & dark days are not very motivating. It will continue to get colder and coler, but at least we'll get some of our daylight back!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to training full-time with my group again soon!
You know if you said no to coach that 10 would turn into 15 but since you said YES that 10 will turn into zero. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about the lack of motivation. I am sort of in the same boat, as I don't want to leave my bed at 430 in the morning when it's -30 degrees... :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to heary ou are joining the running group again. sounds like fun!
haha i like that analogy :) its sooo hard sometimes during the winter, especially in places that get REALLY cold! having a group will be great :)
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I was thinking the same thing yesterday morning. I planned on getting up at 5am to go run outside(my normal time in the summer), but canned the idea because it was too dark!!
ReplyDeleteWell done on committing to the running group again!
I'm pretty sure I'm solar powered too. Can't wait til we get past the shortest day of the year and we start seeing some extra daylight!
ReplyDeletehmmmm... maybe some hydroponic lighting over the bed ;-)
ReplyDeleteSolar powered, I love that. It is really hard to motivate in the winter. Every morning when I wake up to train and it is dark, I just want to go back to sleep.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I am totally solar powered too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great term: solar powered !!
ReplyDeleteMe too, and in Minnesota winter, that is pretty sad.
But you sound optimistic.
I think a lot of people feel the same way about the short, dark days this time of year.
ReplyDeletenow that you've explained it, I must be solar powered too! LOL Glad you'll be rejoining the group, all very good reasons!
ReplyDeleteI am totally solar powered too!! I was just talking about the same thing. I can barely move at 5:30/6 a.m. but come 6:45/7:00 when the sun is peaking over the mountains, I am ready to go!
ReplyDeleteHurry up 21st! Let's start adding day light!
love that....ha...i think i'm solar powered too...
ReplyDeleteOh yah, I'm completely solar powered! I need to join some type of "group" this next year. I have no steady training partner of any kind right now. Makes it quite difficult to get out there and cycle or swim. Boomer is great motivation to get me out on the trails. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can tough out cold, but darkness is too much. Is it spring yet?
ReplyDeletethe push up challenge and I just never did become friends, but you will probably master it because you are more tenacious than moi.
ReplyDeletegood call on teh group, the motivation always helps
I know just what you mean. I've been looking forward to Monday for 2 weeks, telling myself its all longer days from then on!
ReplyDeleteHate that it's dark when I wake up and dark when I get home from work. Boooo cold + dark weather ! C'mon spring !
ReplyDeleteHang in there Lisa!
