Back. Sort of.

I think I'm mostly over my funk. The short story is that I've had issues with my back and then a pulled calf muscle and have been hobbling around for a few weeks unable to do much of anything. This on top of some other life stress and my attitude wasn't pretty. :-(

However, I was able to run yesterday for the first time in several weeks. Sure, it was only a measly 2 miles, but Everything Must Begin at the Beginning. It was sure nice to be outside moving my body again.

Got a bit behind on the Push Up challenge, but no worries, I'm back at it now. Today I completed W2 D3 column 1 (5+7+5+5+8=30). I'm due for an exhaustion test in the next day or so. Hopefullly I can do enough to progress to week 3 (min 16), otherwise, I'll be repeating a few days of W2, but in a different column. How are you all doing with it?!?!

Husband & I are signed up for the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis on December 5th which is about 2.5 weeks out. God willing, I'll be feeling well enough to run the 5K.

I'm not expecting to be able to catch up on your blogs for at least another week. Sorry about that!

  1. We have a Jingle Bell 5k for Arthritis here on that day too. I haven't made up my mind if I'm doing it yet or not.

You're right - we all have to start back at the beginning!

  2. Glad you got a run in! That's progress - yay! :) Good luck and take care of that body.

By the way - no worries about catching up on blogs. I'm so far behind, it's not even funny! :)

  3. glad you're back to both running and blogging! No better feeling than being to get back out there. Having a goal race is a huge help too :) ok, I'm late to the game on this one, but i'll start the push-up challenge today :)

  4. Catching up on our blogs is NOT that important. Your sanity is the most important thing. ;)

  5. I'm doing a 10K on Dec. 6th, so I'll be out there suffering too.

push-ups. I've demoted myself to column 2. My form really started to break down in the last set, so I don't want to take any chances with injury. today is W1 D1, I'm on it!

glad your funk is lifting. Now it's time to feel funky in a good way.

  6. Feel better! I am totally feeling the same way. It sucks. It is so hard not to be affected by your injury.

  9. glad your body is on the mend, and hopefully to stay! no more strains!! keep it up with the pushup-program. i decided to re-start last week and just completed week 1. i'm not going to do the tests though because i really just need to do some upper-body strengthening, and don't feel motivated by whether or not i can do 100 pushups in a row. (that's just me though, i know) either way, you got me pushing! :)

  10. Glad you're back (sort of) ;^)

Lisa, we all go through "stuff", I've been up and down like a toilet seat this year...but you know sometimes just blogging about the small stuff gets you throuh...some people wouldn't / couldn't imagine running "just 2 miles".

    Good for YOU!!

  13. Missed ya. Be careful on recovery road - lots of penalties if you go too fast but lots of joy when you get back to where you should be. S+S wins this.

  14. Yay! Welcome back :-)

Nice work on those push ups! I'm still working on them, but a little slower than you. It's good to have them in my rotation, though.

  16. Well, I can certainly understand being grumpy with just back pain and a pulled muscle. Hope things continue to look better in all fronts!
