Short post about three things on my mind.
First is that I actually make it through Week 4 pushups. Un-freaking-believable if you ask me. Week 5 starts for me on Sunday. It looks tough though, but the really scary week is week 6. Eek.
Second is that we did a 1 mile warm up then 8x20sec hill sprints, followed by 1.75 mile cool down today. I was secretly looking forward to the hill sprints all week. Oh my gosh, those were tough!
Here's where it is interesting to me. While I'm usually (as in I can't remember the last time when I wasn't) the last one in our group to come in on runs, I found myself solidly middle of the pack on the hill sprints. Interesting, no?
Third is that Daughter has asked for a gym membership. Taking her tomorrow (after lunch and pedicures) to get her signed up. We pay month to month, so it won't be a big deal if she decides it's not for her. But at the moment I am thrilled that she's interested in the possibiliity of becoming the Gym Princess.
Hill sprints are actually "do-able". You can do anything for 20 seconds, right? LOL
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely when our kids decide they want to take actions to start living a healthy lifestyle. Encourage, encourage, encourage. ;)
That is strange that you are in the middle during the hill sprints. I think it must mean you're the real deal... tough enough to knock out those hills!
ReplyDeleteI must try doing push ups. I never do them. Bet your arms looks amazing!
Hope your daughter likes the gym. Good for her! You're a great example.
You are rocking those push-ups! Sure hope we get to see a picture of those guns soon!
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting that your daughter is asking for a gym membership! Too cool! I love that my family shares a love (for the most part) for working out! It's great!
The daughter thing is awesome!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter (12 yr) just started asking to work out when I go teach. Yahoo.....
Pushups are awesome!
You are kicking @$$ with those hill sprints!! All your hard work is paying off :)
ReplyDeleteYou're a great inspiration for her! That's awesome! Keep kicking butt on the pushups :D
ReplyDeleteYou are teaching your kids well!! Perhaps someday she will want to run with you???
ReplyDeleteGood job on the hill sprints!!
So funny that I have the same experience with hill sprints. I keep up with the pack and then when it flattens out for the run home, they leave me in the dust. Oh well. Yeay for the Gym Princess. Last night the boys "lifted" cans of spaghetti-os for front/side raises and shoulder press. They loved it. Our Princess joins in for planks. Fun times with the family.
ReplyDeleteNice job on the push-ups AND hill sprints! You're getting so strong!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day with your daughter, and awesome that she wants to get active. You're a great influence.
(I'm playing catch up after a week away from my computer - so pardon the condensed comment.) You are ROCKIN on those abs and the pushups. I think it's FANTASTIC that your daughter wants a gym membership. (She wouldn't happen to want to infect my daughter with some of that enthusiasm, would she?) And you just sound GREAT. From afar, it sounds like you're still glowing from the anniversary trip. :D Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWhat ever I am doing, I am feeling it in my upper body. Must be the combination of strength and swimming. Knock dem push ups out!!! You can dooooo it!! :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool about your daughter. What a great thing you can do together. Way to be a positive role model, Mom! :)
ReplyDeleteNice job on the push-ups and the run!
Great job with the hill sprints. It's very cool that your daughter wants to give the gym a try.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool Daughter wants to get a gym membership! Must be because she has a mom who models really great healthy behaviors!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are made for hills!! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on week 5...
wow you like the hill sprints... that says something about how much you're improving for sure!!!!
ReplyDeleteI did Team in Training for 3 years (2 marathons and a half marathon). I was ALWAYS last in the training runs! I always hated when I was still running to the turnaround point and people were already on their way back. But the coaches never made me feel bad, my husband usually came back and would run the rest of the way. I always enjoyed the runs and was proud to get further and further so I really didn't care how slow I ran, that's as fast as I can go! But great job for getting to the middle of the pack!

Good job on the hill sprints! You're a tough chick!!
ReplyDeleteGreat updates all around. I think a lot of your performance on hill sprints is due to having a great attitude and looking forward to the workout! You're making me feel bad about not doing any push-ups lately...
ReplyDeleteWay to go on the hill sprints!! I know for a fact that I'm not as fast on hills as some runners. I think it requires a lot more leg strength, which you probably have because of your gym workouts. Wonderful to hear your daughter is interested in joining too!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that your daughter is interested in joining a gym. Yay for healthy happy kids!
ReplyDelete1. You are rocking your push ups.
ReplyDelete2. You are a badass hill runner.
3. Yay for your daughter - the maybe-gym-princess :)
Hill repeats will make you so much stronger! We used to have a 5k that was on one of the biggest hills in the area. I actually--get ready for this--ran a 23 something on that hill, so that shows how much strength you will gain from doing hills. Tres cool that daughter wants a gym membership! Like a proud mama showing off her cub you'll be. My oldest does belong to a gym, and the others visit infrequently, but all you can do is set the example and hope they come around in time.
ReplyDeleteHey, that all great news. Very happy for you!
ReplyDeleteHill sprints sound groovy. You're a strong lady on the hills!
ReplyDeleteThats great your daughter is looking at joining the gym, and that you got pedis!!
ReplyDeleteYou are still my hero. Look at you, hills, pushups...that is awesome....
