This and That

1) FINISH TIME POSTED

Official time was based on crossing the start mat (not gun time), so my official finish was 2:36:58 for a pace of 11:59 min/mi. I'll take that as a Personal Best for this distance even though is it actually a negligible improvement.

2) KNEES STILL HURT

Naproxin has been my friend. Knee pain is not making me happy.

3) IDEAS FOR 2008 ARE FORMING

I think I want to give the half-marathon distance another go at the Fiesta de Albuquerque in April. I don't feel like I've done it 'gracefully' yet; I still need to conquer those last three miles.

I'm toying with the idea of the MS-150 in August. I like the idea of a LONG bike ride that isn't a race.

Beyond that, I'm not sure.

4) REMAINDER OF 2007 CALENDAR STILL EMPTY

I'll probably do something for fun, but I'm not sure what that might be (yet).

  1. I love that you are planning your next goals while still hurting from the race! That's cool. I'm doing the same thing. Didn't we both just mention that we needed a break...hehe.

I don't know if Bandit is up for it, but the Doggie Dash and Dawdle sounds fun (Nov. 4). There's an "all human" 5K too. I had contemplated doing the Defined Fitness Duathlon earlier, but not so much now. I'm not ready to push myself that hard again just yet.

Hey, that's a nice PR on the half!

  2. Congrats on the negligably improved personal best :-) You've done more half mary's than me! You rock!!!

You aren't signed up for a personal worst at a turkey trot yet? Hmmmm... LOL!

I want to do a century next year. But I ain't racing!

  7. Hey, no improvement is negligible especially if you just came under the 12 min/mile mark!

I'm thinking about next goals, too.

Hey be proud of that negligible improvement. It is moving in the right direction.

  10. 1. Nice finsh time. I'd definitely take the PR.

    2. I did the MS 150 here last summer it was well organized and I loved it.

    3. There always comes a time to stop racing for awhile and build a base for next year. you'll know when that is.

  11. Congrats on the PR.
I've finally given into the NSAIDs and I'm taking some Aleve - doesn't seem to be effective on the phantom pain though, wonder why that would be.

Even though I've really enjoyed marathon training, the half marathon distance is great and I'm looking forward to a few HMs in 2008.

  17. Lisa...I just looked up your race photos, and you and Husband look great! They made me smile because you two are so cute running together. I love the finish photo of ya'll closeup. I think you should order some to show your grandkids someday.

Oh, I'm loving your green shirt, too :)

  18. If times count at all, 2 minutes is not negligable. You did better, that's what matters.

  19. I have no clue what to do next year. I feel utterly aimless without a plan. Your plans sound good, can I take them too?
